Starting from Pokhara, the trek begins with a drive to Nayapul and Birethanti, followed by a scenic walk through vibrant local villages, lush green valleys, riverside trails, and terraced farmlands.

A key highlight of the trek is reaching Ghorepani (2,800m) and Poon Hill (3,210m). From Poon Hill, you'll be treated to spectacular panoramic views of the central Himalayan range, including iconic peaks such as Annapurna I (8,091m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (6,430m), Annapurna South (7,219m), and Fishtail (6,993m). The sunrise views from Poon Hill are truly breathtaking and one of the most unforgettable moments of the trek.

When is the best time to trek to Annapurna Base Camp?

The best time for trekking to Annapurna Base Camp is during March, April, May, and September, October, November. Early December is also considered a favorable time for the trek as the weather remains stable.

Itineraries

Day 01

Arrival Day in Kathmandu (1350m/4428ft)

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly greeted by Classic Vacations Nepal trek representatives and transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is yours to relax and unwind. In the evening, we’ll gather for a trek briefing and discussion, followed by a welcome dinner at one of the finest Nepalese restaurants. You’ll enjoy traditional Nepalese cuisine like *Dal Bhat* while experiencing a cultural program. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 02

Morning: Cultural Tour. Afternoon: Fly to Pokhara Flight (30 Min)

Start your day with a leisurely morning and breakfast at the hotel. In the late morning, you’ll embark on a guided tour of Kathmandu's cultural and historical highlights. First, you’ll visit the iconic Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas and a significant pilgrimage site for Buddhists. Afterward, we’ll drive to Pashupatinath Temple, the largest Hindu temple in Kathmandu. Here, you’ll witness sacred rituals and may observe cremation ceremonies along the banks of the Bagmati River.

Day 03

Pokhara to Nayapul (1 Hour Drive) & Trek to Ulleri (2050m)- 5-6 Hours Walk

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel in Pokhara before departing for Nayapul by private vehicle. The drive is one of the most scenic experiences, offering stunning hill views and serene landscapes. From Nayapul, your Annapurna Base Camp Trek officially begins! Today's trek takes you through lush green valleys, terraced farmlands, and along a peaceful river valley. The trail is pleasant and involves a gradual uphill climb, leading you to Tikhedhunga, your destination for the day.

Day 04

Trek to Ghorepani (2850m)- 4-5 Hours Walk

After enjoying breakfast in the morning, begin your trek to Ghorepani, one of the most scenic routes in the region. The trail features a gradual uphill climb, taking you through breathtaking landscapes with forested hills, vibrant rhododendron forests, and lush subtropical vegetation. This journey immerses you in the natural beauty of the Annapurna region while preparing for the spectacular views awaiting at higher elevations.

Day 05

Morning: Hike Poon Hill ( 3210m) for Himalayan Sunrise. Afternoon, Trek to Tadapani (2710m)- 6-7 Hours Walk

Start your day early for a sunrise hike to Poon Hill, a must-see highlight of the trek. Prepare to walk straight uphill, carrying a day pack with essential items like water and your camera or phone to capture stunning panoramic views. The hike takes approximately one hour and rewards you with breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks bathed in the golden glow of sunrise.

Day 06

Trek to Chhomrong Village (2210m)- 5-6 Hours Walk

Start your trek from Chhomrong, descending gradually to cross the Chhomrong Khola via a suspension bridge, followed by a steady uphill climb to Sinuwa Hill. From Sinuwa, the trail leads through a narrow forested valley, taking you to Bamboo (be cautious, as this section can be slippery). From Bamboo, the journey continues through lush rhododendron forests, following a gradual uphill path alongside the Modi River to reach Dovan, and finally climbing uphill to Himalaya. Enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by the serene mountain environment. Overnight stay in Himalaya.

Day 07

Trek to Himalaya Hotel (2920m)- 5-6 Hours Walk

Trek from Chhomrong gradually descend to Chhomrong Khola, cross the bridge, then uphill to Sinuwa Hill. From Sinuwa, the trail will be through the narrow valley and forested hills until Bamboo (trail could be slippery in this section). Further, the trek from Bamboo continues through the rhododendron forest, following a gradual uphill path along the side of the Modi River to Dovan, then uphill to Himalaya. Leisure evening in Himalaya. Overnight stay in Himalaya.

Day 08

Trek to Machhapuchre Base Camp Or MBC (3700m)- 3-4 Hours Walk

Walking from the Himalaya Hotel towards Hinku Valley, you’ll pass through treeline zones and ascend into dry and deserted hill sections to reach Deurali, a charming spot ideal for a tea break. From Deurali, the trail becomes rocky as you hike uphill, eventually leading to the section below the big hill, commonly known as the avalanche section trail. During winter or after heavy snowfall, this area is prone to avalanches from the hilltop, so careful walking is required here.

Day 09

Trek to Annapurna Base Camp Or ABC (4130m)- 2 Hours Walk

In the afternoon, explore the Annapurna Base Camp area, which offers incredible views. You can walk up to the ridge or glacier sections for a great exploration of this stunning Himalayan valley. Enjoy 360-degree views of mountains, including close-up sights of Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Tent Peak, Fishtail, and other Annapurna peaks. The sunset views at Annapurna Base Camp are absolutely breathtaking, making this valley an unforgettable destination. Overnight stay at ABC.

Day 10

Trek back to Bamboo (2300m)- 5-6 Hours Walk

We will enjoy the morning sunrise at Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). The sunrise views of the mountains are truly spectacular, offering a perfect opportunity to capture stunning photos and videos in this breathtaking Himalayan valley. After this memorable morning, have a delicious breakfast at the lodge in ABC.

Day 11

Trek to Jhinu Danda (1200m)- 4-5 Hours Walk

Today, we have an easy trek back to Chhomrong Village, followed by a short but steep descent through stone steps to Jhinu Danda. The trail offers beautiful greenery, terraced farming lands, and a scenic walk with incredible mountain views, making it a delightful journey.

Day 12

Trek to Kyumi (2 Hour) & Drive to Pokhara (820m)- 2 Hour Drive

After breakfast at the lodge, we trek downhill along the Modi Riverside through a stunning green natural valley to Kyumi. From Kyumi, we drive back to Pokhara by private vehicle. The drive is a scenic journey that passes along riverbanks, charming local villages, farming lands, and lush green valleys, offering incredible views of nature throughout the trip.

Day 13

Fly to Kathmandu (30 Min)

In the evening, we host a farewell dinner at one of the finest restaurants in town, where you can enjoy delicious city cuisine. During the dinner, you’ll have the opportunity to share your trek experiences and provide feedback about your journey with our team. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 14

Departure from Kathmandu

Start your day with breakfast at your hotel in Kathmandu. Your trip with us comes to an end here. For those departing, we will arrange a transfer to Kathmandu International Airport for your departure flight.

Your guide is a highly experienced local Nepalese trekking guide with over 15 years of experience in the Nepal mountains. Fluent in English and well-versed in trek routes, he is trained in first aid and eco-friendly trekking practices. Licensed by the Nepal Government, Department of Tourism, your guide is also equipped to handle any emergencies that may arise during your trek, ensuring your safety and comfort throughout the journey.

The two best seasons for the ABC trek are:

  • Spring (March to May): Enjoy vibrant rhododendrons in full bloom and clear skies, perfect for scenic mountain views.
  • Autumn (September to November): Experience stable weather and breathtaking views of the Himalayas, making it ideal for trekking.

No prior trekking experience is required; however, a moderate level of fitness is recommended. The trek includes daily walks of 4–7 hours over diverse and uneven terrain, making physical preparation beneficial for an enjoyable experience.

The highest point of the trek is Annapurna Base Camp, which stands at an altitude of 4,130 meters (13,550 feet).

While it is possible to trek solo, hiring a guide or porter is highly recommended for improved safety, better navigation, and to contribute to the local economy.
